Questions and answers
How much does a single dental implant cost in Turkey?
As an indicative guide, a single dental implant is commonly quoted around 350 to 900 GBP (roughly 400 to 1,000 EUR/USD), with an implant-plus-crown restoration nearer 500 to 1,100 GBP. Brand, whether a crown is included and case complexity move the figure. Ask for a written, itemised quote. See the implant cost guide.
What is a dental implant made of?
Most implants are a small titanium (or titanium-alloy) screw that replaces the tooth root, topped by an abutment and a crown; some use zirconia as a metal-free alternative. Titanium is used because it fuses reliably with bone. See the dental glossary.
What is osseointegration and how long does it take?
Osseointegration is the biological process in which bone grows onto the implant surface to lock it in place. It commonly takes about three to six months, which is why implant treatment usually needs two visits. See the dental glossary.
What is All-on-4?
All-on-4 restores a full arch with a fixed bridge supported by four implants, often with a same-day temporary set. It suits people missing most or all teeth in an arch and avoids grafting in many cases by angling the rear implants. See the All-on-4 guide.
What is the difference between All-on-4, All-on-6 and All-on-8?
They differ in how many implants support the arch — four, six or eight. More implants can distribute load differently and may suit denser treatment plans or weaker bone; the choice is clinical, based on your bone and bite, not price alone. See the All-on-4 guide.
What is immediate loading (same-day teeth)?
Immediate loading means a fixed temporary bridge is attached to the implants on the day of surgery, so you leave with teeth. The permanent restoration is fitted after healing. It depends on the implants being stable enough at placement. See the dental glossary.
What is a multi-unit abutment?
A multi-unit abutment is a connector that sits on top of the implant and carries a multi-tooth bridge, used in full-arch cases such as All-on-4. It helps align and support the prosthesis on angled implants. See the dental glossary.
What is a zygomatic implant?
A zygomatic implant is a longer implant anchored in the cheekbone (zygoma) rather than the upper jaw, used when there is severe bone loss in the upper jaw and standard implants are not possible. It is a specialist procedure. See the dental glossary.
Do I need a bone graft or sinus lift?
You might, if a scan shows too little bone to hold an implant securely; a graft rebuilds bone and a sinus lift creates room in the upper jaw. Both add cost and healing time and can only be judged from imaging and examination. See the dental glossary.
How long do dental implants last?
Well-integrated implants can last many years and often decades with good hygiene and check-ups; the crown or bridge on top may need replacing sooner. Smoking, gum disease and poor maintenance shorten lifespan. No outcome is guaranteed. See the safety hub.
What implant brands are used in Turkey?
Clinics use premium systems such as Straumann and Nobel Biocare and mid-range systems such as Osstem and MegaGen. Ask which brand is in your quote and whether it carries a lifetime guarantee, since this affects price and future serviceability. See the safety hub.
Are cheaper implant brands worse?
Not necessarily; many mid-range brands are well documented and widely used. Premium brands have larger research records and broader parts availability, which can matter for long-term repairs. The brand should be a clinical choice you understand, not a surprise. See the safety hub.
Are dental implants painful?
The procedure is done under local anaesthetic and is usually not painful; expect some soreness, swelling or bruising for a few days, managed with standard painkillers. Sedation is available for anxious patients. Severe or worsening pain should be reported.
What are the risks and possible complications of implants?
Possible complications include infection, failure of the implant to fuse, nerve or sinus involvement in certain positions, gum recession and, rarely, implant loss. Most are uncommon and treatable, but you should have them explained and consent before treatment. See the safety FAQ.
What is the success rate of dental implants?
Large studies generally report high long-term success for well-placed implants in suitable patients, though figures vary by site, bone quality and habits such as smoking. Ask your dentist about success rates for your specific case rather than a single global number. See the is it safe? guide.
Can I get implants if I have gum disease?
Active gum disease usually needs treating first, because it affects the bone and gum that support an implant. Once it is stabilised, implants may become possible; your dentist will assess this from your gum and bone health.
Is there an age limit for implants?
Implants are generally suitable for adults after jaw growth is complete, with no strict upper limit provided bone and general health allow. Suitability is assessed individually rather than by age.
How many trips to Turkey do implants need?
Usually two: one to place the implants and, after a healing period of a few months, a second to fit the final teeth. Some cases allow a fixed temporary the same day, but the permanent restoration still follows healing. See the your trip hub.
What is guided implant surgery?
Guided surgery uses a 3D scan and a printed surgical guide to plan and place implants precisely. It can improve accuracy and predictability, particularly in complex or full-arch cases. See the dental glossary.
Do implants set off airport security?
No. Dental implants are small titanium components and do not normally trigger airport metal detectors, and no documentation is needed to fly with them.
What is the difference between an implant, a crown and a bridge?
An implant replaces the tooth root; a crown is the visible cap on top of an implant or a natural tooth; a bridge replaces several missing teeth by spanning a gap, supported by implants or adjacent teeth. They are often combined in a treatment plan. See the crowns & bridges guide.
How do I care for dental implants?
Treat them like natural teeth: brush twice daily, clean between them with floss or interdental brushes, avoid smoking, and attend regular check-ups so the gum and bone around the implant stay healthy. Good maintenance is the main driver of longevity.
