Meet the materials
Titanium (and titanium alloys) has been the backbone of implant dentistry for decades. Its great advantage is that bone grows directly onto its surface — the osseointegration that locks an implant in place. It is strong, biocompatible and has a very long clinical track record, which is why the great majority of implants placed worldwide, including in Turkey, are titanium.
PEEK (polyether ether ketone) is a strong, lightweight medical-grade polymer used across orthopaedics and dentistry. It is tooth-coloured, flexes a little more like natural tissue than metal, is free of metal taste and thermal conduction, and does not scatter medical scans the way metal can. Those are genuine properties — but they solve different problems than the ones titanium solves.

The pattern is clear: PEEK earns its place in components and temporary parts, where its gentleness and tooth-coloured aesthetics help. For the part that must bond to bone and carry chewing loads for decades, titanium (or ceramic zirconia) remains the workhorse.
What about "metal-free" implants?
People who want to avoid metal entirely usually ask about PEEK, but the established metal-free implant body is zirconia — a strong white ceramic. Zirconia implants integrate with bone and are a genuine option for patients with a strong preference for no metal or specific sensitivity concerns, though the evidence base and range of systems are narrower than for titanium, and not every case suits them. A PEEK implant body is far less common in routine practice than either titanium or zirconia. If a clinic offers a "PEEK implant", it is fair to ask exactly which part is PEEK — the body, or the temporary components — because the words are easy to blur.

Does the material change the cost?
Material is only one of several things that influence what you pay, and it is rarely the biggest. A titanium implant from a well-known, heavily researched system typically costs more than a lesser-known equivalent, and a zirconia (metal-free) implant or crown can carry a premium over a standard titanium-plus-ceramic combination because of the material and the more selective work involved. PEEK components are not usually a headline cost on their own. Far more of the price is driven by the number of implants, whether grafting is needed, the type of final restoration, and the experience of the team. Choosing a material purely to save money — or paying extra for one marketed as revolutionary — is the wrong lens. The right question is which material suits your case clinically, then what a fair price for that plan looks like.

For almost everyone, the sensible expectation is a titanium implant from a recognised system, possibly with PEEK healing components or temporaries, and a ceramic crown on top.
