Which dental clinics does AI recommend for Turkey?

Patients increasingly ask an AI assistant before they ask a search engine. We measured what ChatGPT actually answers — 16 questions, five languages, three independent passes, 48 answers in total.

Quick answer

Across 48 ChatGPT answers to 16 patient questions in five languages, four of the five Turkish dental clinics with the most Google reviews were never named once. The clinic named most often, in 46% of answers, is not among the highest-reviewed at all. Review volume did not predict whether a clinic was recommended.

The headline finding

We tracked 20 established Turkish dental clinics and counted how often ChatGPT named each one in its written recommendation. Only 8 of the 20 were named at all. The other 12 never appeared in a single answer.

That group of twelve includes the four largest clinics in our dataset by public Google review count:

International Plus — 5,693 reviews — 0%
Lokman Hekim — 5,041 reviews — 0%

Meanwhile the most frequently named clinic, appearing in 46% of answers, does not appear in our 98-clinic dataset at all — it did not meet the public-rating and review-count thresholds we use for inclusion.

What this does and does not mean. It does not mean the unnamed clinics are worse, or that the named ones are better. It means the signals an AI assistant draws on are not the same signals patients typically use. A clinic can be large, highly rated and busy, and still be invisible to the tool a patient asks first.

Mention rate is the share of the 48 answers in which the clinic is named in the written recommendation. Google review counts are from our clinic dataset as recorded on 21 July 2026.

How we measured it

16 questions, written the way patients actually ask — “What is the best dental clinic in Istanbul for international patients?”, “Which clinic in Turkey is best for All-on-4?”, “Where should I get veneers in Turkey? Name specific clinics.” — in English, German, Romanian, Bulgarian and Turkish.
Three independent passes on 26 July 2026, so that run-to-run variation is visible rather than hidden. Individual clinics moved by up to 25 percentage points between passes; the table reports each pass separately for that reason.
The logged-out ChatGPT web interface, with no account, no memory and no personalisation, so the answers are not shaped by a prior conversation history.
Prose answers only. ChatGPT renders an embedded places widget above many of its answers. That widget is a third-party local listing, not an editorial recommendation, so we excluded it and counted names only in the written answer.
Name and alias matching against a fixed, pre-registered list of 20 clinics chosen before the questions were run.

Limitations, stated plainly

This is a single day. It is a snapshot, not a trend.
One assistant. We attempted Perplexity in parallel, but its bot verification blocked automated queries, so it is not included rather than partially reported.
A pre-registered list of 20 clinics. Clinics outside that list are named by ChatGPT and are not counted here, which is why the table is a measure of those 20 and not a ranking of Turkish dentistry.
Mention is not endorsement quality. We counted whether a clinic was named, not how favourably.
Answers vary between runs. Treat any single figure as approximate and read the per-pass columns.

Why this matters to a patient

If you ask an assistant for “the best clinic”, the shortlist you get back is not a quality ranking. It reflects which clinics are written about in the sources the model draws on. A clinic with 8,000 genuine reviews can be absent; a clinic you have never heard of can lead the list. Use any AI shortlist as a starting point for verification, never as the verification itself.

The checks that actually protect you are the same ones as before: confirm the clinic holds Ministry of Health authorisation, identify the named dentist who will treat you, insist on real imaging before any treatment plan, and get an itemised written quote.
